The Only Label We Use? Adventurer.

No boxes, no badges—just a motley crew of explorers chasing sunsets, swapping stories, and occasionally wondering how we ended up on top of a mountain.

The Only Label We Use? Adventurer. 〰️ No boxes, no badges—just a motley crew of explorers chasing sunsets, swapping stories, and occasionally wondering how we ended up on top of a mountain. 〰️

At Camp Outpost, a 501(c)(3), we believe outdoor adventure isn’t measured by how fast you paddle or how high you climb—it’s about discovering your own strength and pushing boundaries you didn’t think you could. The reality? Outdoor opportunities in Nebraska haven’t always been accessible to everyone. Financial challenges, cultural disconnects, and unwelcoming spaces have left women, girls, LGBTQ+, marginalized communities, and individuals with diverse physical and neurodiverse needs watching from the sidelines instead of diving into experiences that foster growth.

We’re here to rewrite that story—to make the outdoors a place where everyone belongs, because it always should be.

We’re the only organization in Nebraska offering year-round, adventure-based skill building programs designed to go beyond the thrill of the moment. Whether you’re paddling your first kayak stroke, carving turns on a ski slope, or finally landing that skateboard trick- we’re here to help you build confidence, ignite leadership, and create lasting connections.

Those barriers keeping people out? We’re tearing them down and building a more inclusive outdoor culture—where every adventure opens doors to bigger possibilities.

Whether we’re paddling through river cleanups on The Great Drift, sketching wildlife with Flora, Fauna, and Folding Chairs, or carving fresh lines at Winter Oddity, our participants don’t just walk away with new skills—they leave ready to tackle bigger adventures and give back to the communities and environments they’ve come to love.

A Few Ways We Break Barriers:

  • Gear and Entry Made Easy: No gear? No sweat. Our Loaner Gear Locker has you covered—everything from snowboards to life jackets. With scholarships and transportation assistance, we make sure nothing stands between you and the wild.

  • Progression Built In: Programs like Roll Call, Make Waves, and Winter Oddity are built to guide you from beginner to mentor, with a natural flow that turns curiosity into confidence and confidence into leadership.

  • Inclusive and Adaptive by Design: We team up with specialists to make sure everyone—no matter their ability—gets a seat at the adventure table.

  • Beyond Recreation, Into Impact: Programs like The Great Drift and Flora, Fauna, and Folding Chairs combine outdoor fun with environmental responsibility and community engagement, creating adventurers who care as much about giving back as they do about the next big thrill.

Programs That Create Lifelong Adventurers:

  • Roll Call: Women and Girls Empowerment Skateboarding Series
It’s more than skating—it’s about showing up, building grit, and creating a space where young women and girls thrive, many returning to mentor the next wave of skaters.

  • Nomadic Collective: Overnight Camping Program
First overnight camp? No worries. Adventure-ready tents, hands-on outdoor learning, and Nebraska landscapes turn this experience into a connection with nature that sticks.

  • Flora, Fauna, and Folding Chairs: Artisan Workshop Series
Where creativity and conservation meet. From nature-inspired projects to speaker series, participants leave with new skills and the knowledge to protect what inspires them.

  • The Great Drift: River Cleanup and Paddle Skills
More than cleaning rivers—it’s about building responsibility and teamwork through paddling, with participants gaining a lasting sense of ownership over local waterways.

  • Make Waves: Water Skills Clinics
From your first paddle stroke to wake surfing mastery, this program builds confidence and technical skills that lead to leadership roles in future water-based clinics.

  • Winter Oddity: Winter Ski & Snowboard Clinics and Pop-Up Terrain Park
From first-time skiers to confident riders, this winter series mixes community camaraderie, coaching, and progression opportunities that often lead to volunteer mentorship.

Why It Matters: Adventure is the Spark, Culture Change is the Goal

We’re not here for quick thrills or Instagram moments. We’re building something deeper. Every adventure sparks growth, every fall leads to a rise, and every session builds stronger individuals who become advocates for the outdoors and their communities. Research backs us up: sustained outdoor engagement boosts mental health, strengthens community bonds, and creates lifelong stewards of the environment.

With your support, we’re making sure adventure in Nebraska isn’t a privilege—it’s the foundation for leadership, grit, and stronger communities.

At Camp Outpost Inc., our mission is simple: Make the outdoors a place where everyone—and we mean everyone—belongs.

Outdoor adventure isn’t just about working up a sweat (though we’ll never turn down a good climb or a paddle against the current). It’s about creating spaces where confidence is built, friendships ignite, and communities come alive. It’s where Valora found her sea legs and her voice, learning to steer a kayak and trim a sail while connecting with fellow adventurers. It’s where Rick, a blind downhill skier, flipped the script and now teaches sighted guides how to navigate the slopes with trust and precision. And it’s where a family with a neurodiverse sibling didn’t just show up—they thrived, tearing up the skatepark and riding the waves of a windy lake day in a space that embraced them exactly as they are.

These aren’t just stories you tell around the campfire—they’re proof that access to the outdoors has the power to change lives.

At Camp Outpost, we don’t just tear down barriers—we build pathways. With programs that teach skills, spark friendships, and open doors, we’re not just getting people outside—we’re creating a movement where the outdoors becomes a launchpad for growth, adventure, and discovery for everyone.

Empowering Underrepresented Communities: Adventures with a Side of Grit

Grab your boots and maybe a snack—this slideshow’s about how adventure-based programs are changing the game for underrepresented communities. We’ve got the numbers (yes, actual data) to prove that fresh air, a little confidence, and a lot of laughs can turn anyone into a leader. These slides are packed with stats that show how climbing rocks and paddling rivers do more than just build muscles—they build character, open doors, and, let’s be honest, make for some pretty great stories.

Impact Investors

  • We tip our hats (and helmets) to the Lozier Foundation for their extraordinary contributions.

Thanks to Lozier's backing, our Summer Semester became an unforgettable adventure. From bringing free demo days to life to giving our girls' skate program, Roll Call, a momentum boost, Lozier helped us expand access and inspiration. Oh, and let’s not forget the Make Waves Empowerment Series—closing the nature gap, one paddle, one wave, and one empowered participant at a time. They didn’t just fund programs; they funded possibility.

As if that weren’t enough, Lozier has also supported tying career pathways and mentorship programs into our offerings, giving participants the tools not just to play, but to thrive. By connecting young adventurers to mentors and pathways in outdoor recreation and conservation, they’re ensuring the impact extends far beyond the trail or the skate park.

And the adventure doesn’t stop with summer! As the snow starts to fall, Lozier has donned its winter gear to champion our Winter Oddity program for 2024-25. With their help, we’re carving out space for women, girls, and marginalized communities in winter sports. Think snowboards, skis, and a fresh layer of empowerment gliding down the slopes, all while building a bridge to future careers and leadership roles in the outdoor industry.

Lozier Foundation, you’re not just part of the Camp Outpost story—you’re the co-author of so many life-changing chapters. Here’s to adventure, inclusion, mentorship, and the career pathways you’ve made possible.

  • Sherwood has become the heartbeat of our big 2025 vision: making outdoor adventure everyone’s story.

Their support isn’t just a line item; it’s the force behind our mission to create equitable access to the outdoors for communities across Nebraska. Thanks to Sherwood, we’re not just checking boxes; we’re blazing trails (literally and figuratively). With their help, we’re building goal-oriented programs that empower participants to grow as leaders, tackle personal milestones, and rewrite what it means to “belong” in outdoor spaces.

Here’s what their belief in us means:

    • More Margins Erased: We’re increasing program participation by 50% by 2026.

    • Mentorship That Moves the Needle: With Sherwood’s backing, we’re crafting mentorship programs and career pathways that bridge the gap between “just trying” and thriving in the outdoor industry.

Sherwood, you’re not just funding a mission—you’re helping write a new chapter in outdoor recreation, one where everyone has a seat at the campfire. Thank you for believing in the power of adventure to transform lives. Together, we’re not just building programs; we’re building a movement.
